Helping Homeless

Brooklyn Halfway House for the Homeless Since 2003

WHEN THE LORD WILL ASK...

On February 11, 2026, something unforgettable happened at a homeless feeding in Brooklyn. After distributing food, Nikolai Revyuk—the son of the rector of Holy Trinity Church, a husband, father of two children, a man with a profession and a stable life—quietly said: “I want to serve the homeless. I want to do charitable work.” Why? Because it is impossible to look into the eyes of a person who has lost everything and remain the same. Read on

ST. JOHN'S WORKHOUSE NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Beloved friends!  We are asking for your support as our House of Labour is going through a difficult time. The building in which we have been staying since 2017 has been put up for sale. We are asked to leave it as soon as possible. We created a small paradise here, brought good results but now we need to find a new place. With God's help and your support, we will overcome everything and start helping even more people in a new place!

WE HUMBLY ASK YOUR SUPPORT TO MOVE TO A NEW PLACE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

A HALFWAY HOUSE RUN BY VOLUNTEERS

The St John's Giving Hope Charitable Foundation was established in Brooklyn to help homeless people in the Brighton Beach area, rehabilitate them and bring them back to full life, through work and charitable actions.

Our volunteers feed the homeless in various Brighton Beach locations several times a week.

Not only this is an opportunity for volunteers to do a good deed, food distribution is an important step towards building a bond of trust between our team and the guys who live on the streets, a kind of bridge that our new friends are not afraid to step on. From there, we can offer them further steps to work towards finding a normal lifestyle.

Why are we called the House of Work for Christ?

Because we believe constructive work and creative approach to life is a great psychological lever, helping lift one out of misery and depression. Our residents work on multiple projects, helping themselves and others find new meaning in life.

We rely on prayer and spiritual consultations for those who are interested, and get good results.

Our home church is built and maintained by our residents, and welcomes anybody who wants to pray on Sundays and on Christian holidays throughout the year.

St John's volunteers regularly go out to provide hot meals to the homleess

We regularly go out on the streets to distribute food on the streets and in the metro. Thanks to many volunteers and our residents, this operation has become a Brooklyn staple, well known by those in need.

RAIN IS FALLING ON THE BRIGHTON BEACH

By Elena Chernikina

It all started 20 years ago, on December 2002, when a young woman walked into one of the local Orthodox churches. She approached the pulpit and suddenly addressed the paritioners: - "Did you Orthodox Christians know that while you're praying, your fellow believers are freezing in the streets of rich America? They need your help!”
