JOY THAT COMES FROM COMPASSION
This joyful photo captures a moment that speaks louder than a thousand words. On February 11, 2026, something unforgettable happened at a homeless feeding in Brooklyn. After distributing food, Nikolai Revyuk — the son of the rector of Holy Trinity Church, a husband, father of two children, a man with a profession and a stable life — quietly said:
“I want to serve the homeless. I want to do works of mercy.”
But on this day, he did not come as a specialist.
He came as a Christian.
Why?
Because it is impossible to look into the eyes of a person who has lost everything and remain the same.
Today you are working.
Today you have a home.
Today your family is with you.
And tomorrow?
None of us is immune to .
In the Gospel, the Lord clearly says:
“I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me drink...”
He will not say:
How many times did you fast?
How many prayers did you say?
He will ask:
Who did you feed?
Who did you warm?
Who did you support?
Let us have an answer at the Last Judgment.
Let those whom we once simply did not leave hungry be among the saved.
When you help those who have hit rock bottom, your heart is filled with light. Because that is where God's presence is especially felt.
Today you give a plate of food,
and tomorrow you realize that the Lord has given you the opportunity to become His hands.
Moments like these remind us that mercy changes not only those who are helped. It changes us.
